Sammy Jo Claussen
Sammy is a senior at Shawnee Mission North and is a second year student at Broadmoor Technical Center. She has been a member of the SkillsUSA chapter for the past two years. Recently, Sammy was awarded first place in the International Art Institutes Regional cook-off at the Kansas City location. In May, Sammy will compete in Charlotte, NC along with 30 other finalists for 48,000 scholarships to the Kansas City Arts Institute. By placing first in her competition Sammy received $3000 for her efforts and did it all with a cast on her arm! Congratulations Sammy!

Spencer Knipper
Spencer is a senior at Shawnee Mission East and a second year student in Culinary Arts at Broadmoor Technical Center. Spencer was a national medalist in the Skills USA Culinary Arts competition in the summer of 2008 and plans to attend Kendall College in Chicago following graduation. Spencer is currently working for Broadmoor Alumni Joe West at the Delaware Café as a Chef de Partie and looks forward to becoming a leader at the student-run Broadmoor Bistro Restaurant.

Julia Packham
Julia is a senior at Shawnee Mission Northwest currently attending Broadmoor Technical Center in the Culinary Arts Program. This past summer she competed in Skills USA National Competition for Food and Beverage Service and received a silver medal, along with a $10,000 scholarship to New England Culinary Institute. Julia’s focus this year is community service, student leadership and leaving a legacy of excellence for the underclassman who wish to further their culinary education.
Becky Elkins
Becky is a Senior at Shawnee Mission West High School and a second year student in the Culinary Arts Program at Broadmoor Technical Center. mportant culinary techniques from her teacher, Chef Bob Brassard, during her attendance at Broadmoor. This continued interest has helped her establish the choice of attending Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte, North Carolina after high school graduation.
